The Chateau Laballe is located at Parleboscq, between Eauze and Gabaret, in the heart of famous Bas Armagnac where the best brandies are produced. In 1820, Jean-Dominique Laudet, back from a from a twenty-four long years trip on the island of Saint-Thomas in the Antilles, bought the Chateau Laballe.

"I have just acquired a beautiful ground, Chateau Laballe, located at 3 miles of Eauze. It includes a beautiful housing, 10 well arranged smallholdings and 6 breweries, a superb vineyard giving, common year, 80 brandy parts and often 100 parts of the first quality." Jean-Dominique Laudet

The village of Parleboscq was already at this time famous for its excellent vineyards and the high quality of its Armagnac. Since then, the castle has remained in the family.

Chateau Laballe soils, mainly sandy, are called "Sables Fauves” (fawn-coloured Sands). Ten hectares of the domain, mainly planted with Ugni cepage, are exclusively used for the development of this great Armagnac. Distillation is made using a specific armagnac still which gives to Chateau Laballe all its savour and its unique taste. The produced Armagnac is then stored in new oak barrels for long years. The marriage of wood and alcohol, for whom can be patient, gives rise to a nectar full with strength, flavours, and of delicacy.

The Bas Armagnac Château Laballe is considered by experts one of best. Vintage International agrees:

"limpid and brilliant. Dressed with amber color. Crystallized orange flavours, of gingerbread, the nose is complex, powerful, made with lot of character and of delicacy. It passes quickly on the spices (cinnamons), the cooked apple, to finish on a rancio beautiful quality. One finds in mouth the same aromatic pallet of the fat and a long persistence. The attack is honest with a beautiful promptness; the alcohol feeling is quite present but without aggressiveness; the tanins are rich but of beautiful invoice; retro smell gives again cinnamon, cooked apple flavours; the final bouquet is on the zan and liquorice; exceptionally long in mouth. Very beautiful brandy of white ugni cepage"

Bas Armagnac Chateau Laballe is an authentic, proud Armagnac, with a strong Gascon identity.
